That's another one hooked ....

And another little lamb joins the fold.  Rachel Number Two (or Gypsiee as she is affectionately known for reasons we had best not go into in the public domain) - already an aficionado of knitting from our Winter sisterhood meetings - has joined the crochet junkies!

Harriet is totally hooked, getting very adventurous to the point where I need to have a go at the pattern first to see if I can help her!  I must confess that I am not that good at following patterns (or recipes as H likes to call them) as Lynne will attest following my union jack tutorial debacle   I'm more of a visual/have a go learner but I'll have to get better otherwise the girls will be leaving me in the dust and we'll have to rename the granny square a 'girlie square'!

Much tea and chocolate required to aid the concentration (for the girls) - me, I needed a glass of wine as Rachel seemed intent on crocheting backwards for a while, bless.  She's got the hang of it now though and will have a blanket before long no doubt since she does have wool and 'sticks' at home for making her links and going down the rabbit hole with:) Don't ask!  Where there's a will there's a way x

Rachel Number 1 is now totally torn - she's got a granny square patchwork blanket on the go, is making a crochet cardi - her own design in single trebles but now she wants to make slippers, quilts, hats, ties, the list goes on - 

there'll be no stopping her.  If only there were more hours in the day!

Watch out ladies - the young competition is hot on our heels. 

The crafts will live on.  Yippeeeee!

Happy Girlies

How lovely to see a young girl's face light up at the prospect of learning an old lady craft.  At Michael's party one of his friends expressed a wish to learn to crochet so I was more than happy to host a small sisterhood mark 3 gathering - an intimate little group with just myself, my big sis, Anne, Harriet and Rachel (a beginner returner in need of a quick refresher course).

I reckon Harriet is going to be a crochet fiend once she finds her own way of handling the hook and Rachel quickly picked up where she left off so two granny blankets are now well under way.  I wonder what time the girls went to bed as they were both eager to get home and carry on!  Hope neither fell asleep and ended up with a crochet hook up the nose!

OK, yes, there were cakes and a smidgen of wine. 

Where has the week gone?  It's flown by but there's always time to squeeze in a little creativity around the mundanity of work and domestic chores, hey?

I covered this book with some lovely fresh Greengate fabric for my lovely Swedish office mate, Viveka - a belated birthday present - but need to make another little something to go with it...

I made a start on my Lucy granny stripe blanket - might have to put my sunglasses on for this project!

So much to fit into this weekend - the garden needs some attention, the house needs some attention, I have not one but two social events (!!!), a car boot sale on Sunday and I want to sew!  Will have to get my skates on and be mega organised.  Maybe just one more cup of tea first .....
