A little bit of transformation

I"m making progress, slowly but surely...

from this pile of old shirts which was hanging about on the spare bed for the past 4 months

I sat in the garden last evening taking off the buttons, collars and cuffs so it would be closer to being used.  This morning I patiently ironed, sorted and folded to achieve a nice neat stash of cotton...
(my sister thinks I've gone from hoarder to nutter with serious OCD - but I think she's just jealous of my stash!)

maybe this will help entice my mojo out of hiding.

Then I got the urge to paint this old veg basket.  It's not very nice today - blowy and grey but fine for painting outside.

Now it looks like this....

Lined with leftover quilt wadding and some very, very old fabric from Next which I used for curtains way back in 1985.  When I do make it into the spare/craft room I'll have at least one new storage basket.

Come on mojo, come out, come out wherever you are!

Hope the sun is shining on you today.

  1. That is an excellent shirt stash! I did similar earlier this year AND sewed a kiongsize quilt top out of them, but as usual that is as far as I got. Love the basket!!

  2. Wow! You've been busy. The stash looks really inviting, I didn't think about taking off the collar and cuffs. I just launched in with my aunt's pinking shears! I might do it in a minute to make it look more professional.
    The basket looks fab.
I was going to say about your table from yesterday, I know what you mean about sanding off the writing, my table is covered in digs and pen and names and I keep threatening to sand it off and paint it but just keep putting a cloth on it and not getting round to it.
I just want to tell you that it's roasting hot and sunny here! It was 36 degrees when I went out at 12.30 and the lowest it got according to my car was 29 and that was driving up the motorway. I, however, am stuck indoors because I just had a wasp nest dealt with and I'm scared they might swarm! My garden could be like a bad B movie.
Hope it brightens up for you.

    1. I have bad B movie images flitting across my brain - Revenge of the killer wasps! It's still grey and dull so it's back to work for me. Had a productive couple of days off now I need a rest :) x

  3. I LOVE your basket but instead of using your good Annie Sloan paint next time, invest in a can or two of spray paint. It's a lot quicker and gets into all those awkward places that a paintbrush can't!Also, be warned, you may have the urge to spray absolutely EVERYTHING else that stands still in your house. Your mojo is returning, slowly but surely, Jules with great results.Have a great weekend. x

    1. It was a bit tedious with paint and brush but I am being resourceful - using up things I already have (already have my eye on painting my pine bed and furniture!) Have a great weekend yourself x
